Meet the Book Blogger Tag

I came across the Meet the Book Blogger Tag over at Lala's Book Reviews, and as I haven't shared that much about myself on this book blog, I figured out I could do this tag to make up for it a little bit.

Introduction
Introduce yourself!
I'm Kristin, in my late 30's, and live in a small coastal town in the south west part of Norway, and I've got a degree from University of Stavanger (English major, history minor).

Something most everyone wants to know… do you have any pets?
Sadly not at the moment I'm afraid. I grew up with both dogs and cats though, and had an adorable cat when I was in my late 20's.

What is your favourite thing to drink?
Coffee, no doubt. There's something special about the first cup of coffee in the morning, and me going from a monosyllabic space cadet to a somewhat functional human being. Please don't expect too much of me in the morning before I've had my coffee, unless you want to know first-hand the expression "if looks could kill".

What is your favourite season?
My favourite season has to be autumn. There's something about the warm colours, cool crisp air, and enjoying a good book on a rainy day.

Do you have any special talents?
Aside from being a bit of a walking encyclopedia, I'm a classically trained flutist (started playing in 96) who used to play in a symphony orchestra, and speak fluently multiple languages.

Blogging
When and why did you start your blog?
I started this particular blog back in September 2025, in part to highlight well-written books, both well-known ones and hidden gems, but also being tired of the superficial book content on apps like Instagram and TikTok (those apps work great for short form content, but not so much for quality long-form content).

What is something that you wish you knew about blogging when you first started?
As this isn't my first book blog, I'd say write a blog in English, as there's a bigger audience for it. I started my first book blog back in 2012, and first wrote it in Norwegian only before switching over to English. For those who's curious, here's the link.

What has been the hardest part about blogging?
I'd say coming up with and creating good quality content, and keeping the steam up so to speak, as I sometimes have writer's block.

What has been the most rewarding part of blogging?
As long as there's no drama, I'd say the community.

Do you write your posts ahead of time or write them the day of posting?
I write my posts ahead of time and schedule them, just to reduce the stress. As I struggle with my mental health, having written and scheduled a bunch of posts is a bit of a relief if/when I'm having a bad period.

Reading
Who are your top 5 favourite authors?
Bram Stoker, Anaïs Nin, Agatha Christie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Han Kang.

What genre do you read the most?
It's a bit hard to pinpoint, as I'm a mood reader with an eclectic taste in books, but a few of my favourite genres are horror, literary fiction, and contemporary.

What genre surprised you by how much you love it?
Honestly, it has to be westerns. I slowly started getting into them a little bit when my father was still alive, and as it was one of his favourite genres, we had something in common when it came to books.

Which popular book didn’t live up to the hype for you?
For me, it was A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. I honestly struggled with that book, so unsure if I'll read the rest of the series.

Who are some popular authors you haven’t read?
A couple of popular ones that I'll probably never read are Colleen Hoover and Freida McFadden.

What upcoming release are you excited to read?
As there's so many to choose from, I'm honestly not sure.

Do you listen to music while reading?
No, as I prefer a quiet environment when I read.

Where else can we find you online?
You can find me on Goodreads and Instagram.
