It's Friday, which means it's perhaps time for yet another Book Blogger Hop post courtesy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer and today's topic is "How do you decide which books to highlight on your blog?".
As I'm mainly focusing on genres and topics like literary fiction, classics, contemporary, translated books, and world literature on this particular book blog, that's what I usually go for, as having a main focus helps narrowing it down a bit. I also try to have a mix of hidden gems and more popular books, so I don't get too bored and so readers of the blog could discover some new-to-them books. Of course, I sometimes highlight other books as I see fit, but that's a book by book assessment.
I like your approach of balancing hidden gems with more popular books. Having a clear focus definitely helps, but it's also nice to leave room for those occasional books that don't quite fit the usual categories. I've discovered some great reads that way.
