It's Friday, which means it's perhaps time for yet another Book Blogger Hop post courtesy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer and today's topic is "Which genre are you eager to jump into more next year, and what draws you to it?".
As I've been at times frustrated with the quality of (some) genre fiction in recent years, I want to return to my roots as an English major so to speak and read more literary fiction and classics. While there's of course good quality books written in various genres, I'm honestly a bit sick and tired of those hyped on TikTok books, regardless of genre.
I also want to read a lot more translated fiction, especially those that fits the label of healing fiction. I've been drawn to them in the last couple of years, and those I've read, I've enjoyed quite a lot, which makes me want to read more of them. They might be a lot lighter reads than literary fiction and classics, but those healing fiction books has a certain charm to them and quite a few are really well-written and philosophical. A few that I've enjoyed includes The Cat Who Saved Books by Sōsuke Natsukawa, Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-Reum, and The Full Moon Coffee Shop by Mai Mochizuki.
