Earlier this year, I read the erotic short story collection Delta of Venus by Anaïs Nin and today I'll post my review of the book.
Descriptions from Goodreads
In "Delta of Venus", Anais Nin conjures up a glittering cascade of sexual encounters. Creating her own 'language of the senses', she explores an area that was previously the domain of male writers and brings to it her own unique perceptions. Her vibrant and impassioned prose evokes the essence of female sexuality in a world where only love has meaning. Her second volume of erotic writings, "Little Birds", is also published by Penguin. My Thoughts on the Book
While there's some topics in this short story collection that's uncomfortable to read for obvious reasons, such as rape and incest, it's still a beautifully written collection due to Anaïs Nin's writing style and prose. Not all literature is meant to be cosy and fluffy comfort reads. Some literature, such as the erotica by Anaïs Nin is to be mind-expanding in one way or another, and to challenge people.
I'm of course not saying that incest and rape (among other things) are okay, just so we're clear, but I do think Delta of Venus is a short story collection that's worth the read.
